The awards ceremony held at the University was a demonstration of the company’s commitment towards education and improving the learning skills of the nation’s human resource.

The award winners, Victory Fiifi Dsane and Alex Boateng Obeng Jnr., Best Graduating Students of the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 academic years respectively, were each presented with a cheque of GHC3, 000 and a laptop.

“Over the years, we have contributed to the health, education, water and sanitation needs of various communities across the length and breadth of Ghana.  In the same vein, we extended a hand of support to the University of Ghana; specifically the Department of Food Process Engineering Department in line with our commitment to helping improve science education in Ghana and giving practical experience to those students who have their internship with ABL.”

Mr. Osbornalso challenged students and alumni of the Food Process Engineering Department to look out for opportunities in the food processing industry.

He stated, “Experiment and come up with ground breaking methods of brewing, packaging, recycling organic waste and better approaches to food security’. This will undeniably lead to further development of the economy of Ghana by curbing graduate unemployment and sustain the environment for further growth.

Both award winners were excited about their prizes and expressed their gratitude towards Accra Brewery’s consistent support to their faculty and for recognizing their academic laurels.

“I must admit, the journey was not an easy one as I spent sleepless nights on campus to be able to achieve success. I am happy I made it and indeed grateful to Accra Brewery for the award”, Alex Boateng Obeng Jnr., Best Graduating Student of the 2012/2013 academic year said.

Accra Brewery’s partnership with the University of Ghana was instituted in 2007.  In 2013, Accra Brewery brought on board two other tertiary institutions by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Takoradi Polytechnic and the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.

The signing on of these tertiary institutions is part of efforts to promote economic growth and innovation across the value chain by providing the students with first-hand practical knowledge and skills from Accra Brewery to prepare them adequately for the job market as they complete their studies and compete with students all over the world.
