The Mayor of Accra, Alfred Vanderpuije is expected to join a team of city engineers to inspect high rise buildings in the capital.
This is to ascertain if the buildings have permits and meet safety requirements.
The tour comes months after the Achimota Melcom mall collapsed and claimed fourteen lives.
The Accra Mayor told Joy News the inspection will not be a one-off event and that owners of buildings with no permits will be sanctioned.
“I do that occasionally when applications are made for building permits. Those that we have doubts around them I do personal inspection...”
He added: “These are things that I do throughout the year...a continuous characteristics of my work...”
