The Greater Accra Regional branch of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday rolled-out a blue print to register foot soldiers for effective coordination and management in the region.
The blue-print made available to Ghana News Agency in Accra set-out the end of August 2010 as tentative date for the commencement of the registration at all constituency offices of the party.
The modalities include supply and equipping of all constituency offices with computers and other office logistics; training of personnel on data capturing skills and strategic connectivity of constituency offices to the regional office.
Speaking to the GNA, Mr Kobina Ade-Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC, noted that the registration was the first step in dealing with and recognising the vital role of foot soldiers, grassroots workers and membership of the party.
He said a comprehensive data on members and foot soldiers were vital ingredient for resolving the current challenges posed by agitations, complaints and the struggle among some members of the party.
Mr Ade-Coker urged all and sundry to cooperate with the exercise, stressing "the current situation where groups just spring-up as foot soldiers of the NDC, making all sorts of demands and issuing threats needs to be contained".
He noted that as a ruling party, it must create room for growth, develop strategies to meet current challenges and prospects for the future.
He added that the party also seeks to consolidate and reinforce its election machinery in the region by ensuring its structures are empowered financially, logistically and with government achievement information.
Mr Ade-Coker said the region would also launch out strategic empowerment model for its officials especially those at the constituency and lower structures.
He said they must concentrate and begin house to house campaign all year round to spread the government's and party's achievements over the years.
"The public needs to know government policies and plans for them," he said.
The NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman stressed: "If you fail to blow your horn nobody will do that for you, the region believes that as a party we urgently need to spread the good news of the party to defuse the vile propaganda of the opposition parties."
He commended Parliamentarians in the region for their performance in Parliament and the constituencies, urging them to intensify their impact, work in collaboration with all the party structures and serve the interest of the party.Source: GNA
