The Adaklu-Anyigbe District Assembly in the Volta Region has resolved to employ strategic means to increase revenue collection for the Assembly this year.
This is as a result of the Assembly's inability to collect over 90 percent of targeted revenue in the district last year.
Mr Mawuli Kwame Dabi, Adaklu-Anyigbe District Chief Executive said this at the Assembly's second ordinary meeting at Kpetoe.
The DCE described the Assembly's 2006 fiscal year as " mind-boggling" and called on the chiefs and opinion leaders of the three traditional areas to help the Assembly in revenue mobilization for its smooth administration.
He said the Assembly, with Police approval would consider the erection of snap barriers at vantage points to enhance revenue collection from motorists.
Mr Dabi said the Assembly was also giving consideration to the privatisation of public toilets
for proper management and revenue mobilisation.
He said despite few hiccups, the Assembly was progressing steadily and called on stakeholders to continue to support its activities until it developed the strength to stand on its own.
An eight-page fee fixing resolution was later discussed and adopted as a working document for the Assembly for this year.Source GNA
