The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has accused the IEA of promoting the agenda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ade Coker claimed that there is a perception that some fellows at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) are members of the New Patriotic Party and until the institute proves neutral, the NDC will stay off its activities.
The NDC has warned its party structures and functionaries to desist from participating in any programme organised by the IEA.
The party insisted that its leaders were not consulted prior to the announcement of the plans for this year's IEA debates ahead of the general elections - accusations flat rejected by the Institute.
Speaking to Joynews, Mr. Coker said until the governance think tank decides to remain neutral and calls a meeting to resolve the matter, the NDC will steer clear of all activities it organizes.
"The IEA has not been fair to us on many occasions...our General Secretary was denied a voice when they put out this corruption conference and many other infractions," Mr Coker alleged.
He added that the Accounting to the People's Tour of the President "is enough to appeal to the people...there is no need for us to sit in a room and debate...every day the president is going round and interacting with the people."
He urged the IEA to make a move to apologize and be seen to be impartial to earn a revision of the NDC's position.
