Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea has disclosed that his client, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been rearrested on a new charge shortly after being granted bail in the GHS49 million cybersecurity procurement scandal.
Speaking to the press after an Accra High Court hearing, Atta Akyea revealed that the fresh charge is related to secured internet services provided to another state institution.
“I’ve been hinted that it relates to secured Internet services for the benefit of another state institution, the Ghana Water Company, that national security provided them with gadgets and well-meaning things, so that if you’re even in your room, you’ll be able to see the pipes whether they are being tampered with,” he explained on May 13.
Expressing worry over the development, the lawyer insisted that processes be pursued in a manner that does not appear to be a personal vendetta, adding that the accused person should be given the freedom to defend himself.

The development follows an order by the Accra High Court directing the prosecution to file all witness statements by May 20, 2025.
The presiding judge, Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante, issued the directive to the Attorney General’s office while expressing concerns over the personal situs gacor liberties of the accused persons, particularly Adu-Boahene.
Justice Nyante encouraged the Deputy Attorney General to expedite the trial to ensure a swift resolution.
