President Nana Akufo-Addo has celebrated Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his immense contribution towards peace and development in the country. Speaking at a dinner to climax the celebration of Otumfuo’s 20^th anniversary on the throne, President Akufo-Addo said Asantehene’s contribution has greatly improved the health, education and Ghana’s development in general. Touting more achievements of the King, President Akufo-Addo indicated that the role played by Otumfuo Osei Tutu in bringing peace to the people of Dagbon is most outstanding of all his achievements. “By all accounts, he has lived and continues to live up to this noble undertaking. Helping to share access to education for thousands and thousands of young children, joining the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS and re-energising the institution are but a few of the many achievements and successes the Asantehene has chalked. For me, his achievement that runs as his very best was when he worked…[with other stakeholders] to find a lasting solution to the Dagbon impasse.” At the same event, Otumfuo charged President Akufo-Addo to do all he can to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians, especially those residing in the Ashanti Region. Otumfuo Osei Tutu said the President can leave behind a legacy if Ghanaians see an improvement in their lives.

“You walk alone this path and you are struck by the picture of an old lady in the twilight of her years in decline of seeming neglect and a picture of despair. Sadly this picture is not exclusive but a reflection of the challenges confronting the people in the Ashanti Region. “Mr. President, this is a challenge we must face together. A challenge we must overcome. We cannot build a new Jerusalem in the time we have under your mandate but we can certainly make a difference, a huge difference and we cannot fail.”
