The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) on Thursday called for the establishment of a club of former presidents to meet periodically with the aim of discussing matters of national interest.
"An engagement of the leadership of all political parties to discuss key national issues will also be welcomed in our efforts to better the lots of over 24 million Ghanaians", the AFAG said in a statement in Accra.
The statement congratulated the President and his predecessor for putting ideological sentiments aside and holding meetings to look at the national interest. Both have shown commitment to Ghana and exhibited a high level of statesmanship.
"The country would at this stage need all hands on deck in order to achieve growth and development devoid of scoring cheap political points. We will want to call on the President to consider making these meetings periodic."
