Mohammed Kudus is set to join the Black Stars team later than expected with the West Ham United midfielder suffering a 'slight' injury according to Ghana boss Chris Hughton.
The midfielder was named in Ghana's 27-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) announced on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Kudus' fitness is a bit of concern following the omission of Thomas Partey from the squad to allow him to continue his recovery with Arsenal.
However, the Irish trainer says the 23-year-old will only be away for a few days due to the knock and should be able to reunite with his teammates in camp.
“We are expecting [Mohammed Kudus] to join the group hopefully in a few days. He has a very slight injury issue that needs to be dealt with before he joins camp but we’re hopeful," Hughton told the press.
Kudus missed the last edition of the AFCON in Cameroon despite being included in the team's final squad. The player was unable to recover in time as the Black Stars suffered a group-stage exit.
