Group A at AFCON 2025 wrapped up with Mali drawing against Zambia, a result that leaves Morocco as the sole group leaders.
Mali took the initiative from the opening whistle and created several chances, but their clearest opportunity came in the 41st minute, when Dorgeles Nene was brought down inside the box. It was a golden chance for El Bilal Touré, who missed from the penalty spot.
Zambia struggled to find attacking clarity and committed multiple fouls, keeping the overall rhythm of the match unchanged. El Bilal Touré later had another chance with a header, but again failed to convert.
In the 60th minute, Mali finally broke through thanks to a goal from Lassine Sinayoko, who finished calmly with his right foot after a move that originated from a corner kick.
After going behind, Zambia pushed forward and eventually secured the dramatic equalizer, with a strike from their star forward Patson Daka.
On Friday the 26th, Zambia will face Comoros in the second round of Group A, while Morocco take on Mali on the same day.
