Barclays Bank Ghana Limited and a team from Amalgamated Bank of South Africa (ABSA) on Monday visited proposed sites of the Okyeman Affordable Housing Project in the Eastern Region.
The team visited three sites in the region, two located in Kibi and one at Asiakwa as part of feasibility studies for the project.
The Managing Director of Barclays Ghana, Mrs Margaret Nwanakatwe, said on Monday at Asiakwa that the Bank, as part of its anniversary celebrations, intended to help in the provision of affordable houses across the country.
About 250 housing units would be built on each of the sites visited to be managed by Okyeman.
Mrs Nwanakatwe said the Bank in collaboration with their colleagues from Johannesburg, South Africa, were at the proposed sites to survey the land and plan towards the commencement of the housing project.
She said the project was two-fold, the planning of the project and the provision of financial assistance.
The Managing Director expressed satisfaction with the location of the site saying, "It is an ideal site as it is near to water and electricity."
The solicitor to the Okyeman's Palace, Mr Kwame Boateng said the project would be patronized by the people of Okyeman and its surrounding areas to serve as a resting place for natives living outside the area.
He said the project would also encourage people of Okyeman to come to their homeland and help in the development of the area.GNA
