Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly with its capital at Kodie has no district police headquarters, Mr. Kwasi Karikari Achamfour, the District Chief Executive, has said.
Speaking to newsmen after an assembly meeting at Kodie on Monday, he said the district assembly without any of the three areas of police jurisdiction in the district was a disturbing factor.
“How come those communities around Ejuratia and Ankaase are under Mamponteng District Police, Kodie, Ntribuoho, Akrofrom and other areas are under Offinso Police while the Afigya portion of the district also falls under Boamang District Police?” he said.
He said though Kodie, as the Afigya-Kwabre District capital has a police station, it is under the jurisdiction of the Offinso Police Command.
Mr Achamfour said it was time the political district was made coterminous with the police to provide effective and proper security to the people who have to travel to seek redress or to report cases.
He said the assembly has decided that the Department of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Health Service and Police Directorate be located at Boamang.
The DCE announced that this year’s District Farmers’ Day would be held at Kodie.
