The Africa Prosperity Network (APN), organisers of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD), have appointed Njack Kane as its Acting Chief Executive Officer.
This was after a rigorous campaign in search of an experienced industry professional who does not only serve as a bridge to English and French-speaking Africa but also Global Africa.
Njack Kane's appointment comes as APN restructures its management team in a bid to present a more equitable African organisation. He is supported by Prince Moses, as deputy CEO, and Stéphanie Diatta, as General Manager.
All three members of the new management speak both English and French, fluently. Kane's management team is supported by an Executive Board, led by Gabby Otchere-Darko as Executive Chairman, and a high-level Advisory Council that is made up of high-level dignitaries and top industrialists from across the African continent.
Commenting on the appointment, the organisation's Executive Chairman, Gabby Otchere-Darko said: "Following the incredible success and high-level participation of the 2023 Africa Prosperity Dialogues, the Board saw it necessary to further strengthen and extend the organisation's all-important message of trade and prosperity and the actions needed for Africa to reach its full potential.
"With Njack Kane's appointment, we are indeed assured of a level of quality that speaks to a deep understanding of APN's objectives. We believe that his contribution will raise the bar and project the organisation to all nooks and crannies".
Like APN, Njack Kane believes in the power of partnerships, especially between the Public and Private sectors, and value chains.
"I believe that action-backed conversations between the Public and Private sectors necessarily lead to the emergence of strong, first class and bankable ideas and partnerships that are aligned with the prosperity objectives of APN.
"The solid partnerships that support the APN platform are exactly what is required for bringing African prosperity narratives and actions to Africa, where they belong. I am very happy to join this new adventure with the rest of the team, here at Africa Prosperity Network", said APN's acting CEO.
Njack Kane is of Mauritanian and Senegalese descent. He was raised and schooled in Switzerland where his father, Elimane Kane, acted as deputy Managing Director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) until 1988.
Njack Kane has extensive experience in commodity trade, having spent over two decades at the Continental Grain Company, Glencore, and Ascot Commodities before founding Novel Commodities in 1999. He left the company in 2013 while at the helm of affairs.
Kane currently heads the Intervalle Group of companies and also serves as vice Chairman of the MEF Endowment Fund.
He is a Member of the Board of both the Winds of Hope Foundation (dedicated to the eradication of Noma in Africa) and the John A. Kufuor Foundation focusing on Leadership, Governance and Development in Africa.
He is married to Absa Kane, co-chair of the Swiss Red Cross Ball and International Ambassador of the Swiss Red Cross.
Njack and his wife, Absa, have two children.
