Africa World Airlines celebrated its 4 millionth passenger on October 31, 2023 at the Kotoka International Airport since the airline begun operations in 2012, reminiscing 11-years of positive customer experience.
Passenger Rodney Olusola Adewele, the 4 millionth passenger who checked in at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Nigeria was the surprise winner of a four transferable return tickets on all AWA networks.
He was presented with a memorable miniature aircraft by senior officials of Africa World Airlines.
Speaking at a mini durbar to welcome him at the arrival hall of Kotoka International Airport, Mr Adewele said, “ this has come to me as a surprise even though I am a frequent flyer and has flown 18 times since the beginning of the year with AWA due to the reliability and adherence to safety standards.”
Deputy Minister for Transport, Alhaji Hassan Sulemana Tampuli, said AWA’s consistency has catapulted it to become the leading airline with the highest market share in Ghana.
He urged AWA to capitalise on the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) which Ghana is a signatory to.
The SAATM, he says will help reduce taxes associated with air travels in African countries.
Mr. Tampuli also urged AWA to acquire more fleets whilst increasing networks of operation.
Chief Operating Officer of AWA, Captain Kwesi Oteng said the 4 millionth passenger means a lot to AWA.
“The 4 millionth passenger is not just a statistic. It is a symbol of the trust, support, and relationships that have been built over the years. This milestone is a testament of our commitment to excellence, and it is the beginning of a new chapter in our airline’s journey,” he said.
He mentioned that AWA aspires to do more as a market leader to improve the welfare and safety of the traveling public.
“The journey to 4 million passengers has been incredible, but there is still much more to achieve,” he said.
“We are committed to raising the bar even higher, delivering unparalleled service, and creating more magical moments for our passengers”Captain Oteng added.
Present at the ceremony was the Deputy Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, management of the Ghana Airport Authority, passengers and staff of AWA.
