Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan believes the CAF African Schools Football Championship could be the opportunity to unearth the finest talents on the continent.
CAF is all set for the third edition of the biggest schools competition on the continent, with Ghana hosting the competition this year.
Gyan, who was a draw assistant for this year's edition, praised CAF for the initiative, highlighting the importance of the competition.
"This is a great initiative from CAF to Africans. We didn’t get this opportunity during our time to show our skills to the whole world. This generation has got that opportunity, so I would say congratulations to CAF for this initiative," Gyan said on the sidelines after the draw.
"It’s going to help this generation to benefit. We might get a lot of stars in the near future talking about both boys and girls categories."
For the girls' category, which was conducted by Clementine Toure, host country, Ghana, have drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, who finished as runners-up during the second edition of the tournament. They are joined by Benin and Malawi in the group.
In Group B, defending champions South Africa face tricky opposition in Uganda, DR Congo and Gambia.
In the boys' category, Ghana was placed in Group A. They will line up against Uganda, South Africa and Algeria.
Defending champions Tanzania will play Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and DR Congo in Group B, looking to make it back-to-back wins.
