As part of Afriwave Telecom’s corporate social responsibility of enriching the lives of people in the community in which it operate, the Deputy Chief Executive officer of Afriwave Telecom, Francis Poku together with his staff has commissioned modernised washroom and urinal facilities for St Martins Senior High School at Nsawam, Adoagyiri.
In addition, the company has provided the school with a mechanised borehole for the supply of quality water for their daily use.
The commissioning of the facilities forms part of Afriwave’s commitment to touching lives and giving back to the community as part of the company’s CSR.

St. Martins SHS is a catholic government senior high school with a student population of about 2,800 and one of the best second-cycle schools in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
In his speech, Francis Poku said "This is not the first time Afriwave has taken up such initiatives. Afriwave, as a socially responsible company, believes in assisting the schools in our communities by giving them the necessary support to improve the well-being of students. A functional washroom is a basic requirement of hygiene in a school with a large student population and the conditions prior to the improvement we have done were dire".
He further stated that public schools need more infrastructure and therefore the construction of the washroom facilities and water was a confirmation of Afriwave’s commitment of supporting quality education in Ghana and giving back to society.

Mr. Poku added that Afriwave Telecom is interested in education, which it believes is the backbone of every economy "and that is why we have focused our energies in assisting schools to improve their infrastructure".
He urged the students to take their education with all seriousness and take good care of the facilities to serve their own purpose and make their time at the school less stressful. Why destroy something that is beneficial to your own wellbeing?
Headmaster of the school Paul. A. Agbakpe thanked the management and staff of Afriwave Telecom for taking off a major burden from his shoulders, as getting the students a functional washroom and urinal facilities was one of his main objectives since assuming office.
He promised to take good care of the facilities and called on corporate organizations to support the school in whichever way they can.
Afriwave Telecom was established in 1998 to provide services to meet the rising demand for telecommunications as the industry began to boom. It was the dream made a reality by a group of dynamic people who saw the strategic need for such a service provider as the dawn of telecommunications and the digital age beckoned.
