I still find it extremely difficult to contend with the fact that my Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Ford Kamel has passed on.What is worrying was our meeting last week Sunday at his official residence in Ho where we discussed wide range of issues with emphasis on the development of the Volta Region.Ford was a good friend, a brother and a mentor. He related with the media very well and constantly charged us (Journalists) to see ourselves as partners in development. His main concern was how to tap the enormous economic resources of the Volta Region and improve on the quality of life of our people. The late Ford called me on my cell phone on Monday and said "My brother thank for your support, I pray that President Mahama retain me in his government so that I can translate my ideas into action."Little did I know that those were supposed to be his last words and contact with me.I will forever remember you Honourable Minister, especially for your role in bringing lasting peace to the Chiefs and people of Gbi in the Hohoe Municipality.I appeal to President Mahama to help realise Ford Kamel's dream of transforming the entire Volta Region so as to compete favourably with the rest in the country. My Minister, may you rest in the bosom of the Lord. Your Friend Agbeko Ben Coffie.
