Two of the losing contenders to the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) flag bearer position, are protesting the electoral victory of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom at the CPP Delegates Congress in Kumasi.Dr. Nduom won the flag bearership with a wide margin of votes. He got 1067 votes which represents 53.8% of valid votes cast to beat the five other candidates including, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, George Aguddey, Dr. F. W. K. Akuffo, Mr. Bright Akwetey and Mr. Kwaku Osafo. The two are George Aguddey and Bright Akwetey.Speaking to Joy News,Mr. Akwetey, one of the contenders claimed that Dr. Nduom was seen distributing money and food to delegates at the congress. When pressed for further details, he declined and said, it was Mr. George Aguddey himself, who witnessed more of the incidents. The two have subsequently fired a protest letter to the Congress chairman, Mr. Riley Opoku, who has confirmed receiving such a letter. The two have vowed to take action to correct what they considered the use of money to influence the conduct of the election. It however, remains to be seen whether this protest would affect Dr. Nduom’s victory.
