The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, Agnes Chigabatia, has denied suffering any intimidation and hounding being cited as reasons for the resignation of Mr. Alan Kyerematen from the New Patriotic Party.
Madam Tsigabatia said she has never been intimidated at any time and expressed shock at the claim by Kuuku Welson-Jones, a spokesperson for Mr. Kyerematen.
The MP who was identified as an ardent supporter of Mr. Kyerematen during the December Congress of the NPP at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana, was speaking on Joy FM’s news analysis programme, Newsfile.
Madam Chigabatia was responding to an earlier claim by Kuuku that information available to him (an sms text message) showed that she had been a victim of the supposed intimidation.
“Why are we practicing politics in this way? This is not true and I challenge the text message, if we get the number we’d get the one who sent it,” she said.
Madam Chigabatia condemned the claim and denied any such support for Mr. Kyerematen, saying her position as an MP prevented her from rooting for any aspirant.
Mr. Kyerematen, a former Trade Minister and flag-bearer aspirant on Thursday resigned from the party citing intimidation and alienation of some of his supporters.
