The Chief Executive Officer of the King Faisal football club, Alhaji Karim Grunsa has described as lies stories being recounted by residents of Agogo in the Asante Akyim North district of the Ashanti region about Fulani herdsmen killing and raping the women of the town.
According to him, the residents are only fabricating these stories so that the Fulani herdsmen will be ejected from the area.
“If you like visit the Agogo Police Station or any Police Station close to the area and see if you will find even one recorded case of murder or rape associated with any Fulani herdsman. It’s simply a lie” he argued.
Speaking via telephone on Adom TV’s BADWAM show on Multi TV, Alhaji Grunsa said the reverse is rather the case.
According to him, his brother, a Fulani man, was brutally murdered recently with his head severed.
“They [residents] are rather killing the Fulani herdsmen because they are eager to get rid of them in the area” he alleged.
Residents of Agogo on Monday September 19 went on a demonstration to register their displeasure over the ‘tyranny’ the claimed was been visited on them by the Fulani herdsmen in the area which included murders, rapes and constant harassment of the indigenes.
Alhaji Grunsa thus called on government to set up a committee of enquiry to thoroughly investigate the allegations made by the residents before passing judgement on the Fulani Herdsmen.
The King Faisal owner said he would also hold a press conference at the King Faisal head office in Kumasi on October 12011 to address the issue of the behaviour of the Fulani herdsmen and other related issues.
