The Akatsi North District is making strides to improve upon Women Economic Empowerment.
District Chief Executive for the Area, James Gunu, says the Assembly has made significant progress towards empowering women economically.
To this effect the District is set to launch a Local Economic Development fund in March, 2016 to improve the livelihood of women in the district.
The Assembly is contributing Ghc30, 000 out of Ghc100, 000 envisaged for the Fund.
The DCE has urged churches and other benevolent organisations to come on board and contribute towards the Fund.
Speaking to Joy News’, Mr. Gunu, said the fund will create an avenue for women to access soft loan facilities to improve their trading activities.
The Akatsi North District is noted for introducing grass root initiatives, pioneering the District Level Accountability Forum.
The District has designed a Disability Album with database on all disabled persons in the area.
The District has also started a Ghc1.6million market store project under the District Development facility.
The Assembly has received half of the amount and has also formed a committee to see to the allocation of the stores in the market.
