A recent report by a Covid-19 compliance inspection team has revealed that two of the schools, where students were infected with the coronavirus disease, are adhering to the basic Covid-19 Safety Protocols.

Akosombo International School and Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School the report says are the Ghana Health Service.

The report, as cited by Myjoyonline.com, shows that Akosombo International School and the Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School students, teaching and non-teaching staff are adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols.

Both schools also had isolations areas where all suspected Covid-19 patients were temporarily isolated.

In the case of Akosombo International School, the school had been mapped to the Volta River Authority (VRA) Hospital with good collaborations between the Covid-19 Taskforce and the District Health Team.

Further observations by the report shows that hand washing facilities have been displayed at vantage points across the school. However, these accessories were inadequate and distanced from classrooms.

It has thus been recommended that these hand washing facilities or Veronica Buckets must be brought nearer to the classrooms for easy accessibility.

One key finding of the report noted, however, that both schools had a problem of overcrowding in their classrooms, dining halls and dormitories.

Accordingly, the inspectors have urged the management of the schools to embark on a decongestion exercise to prevent the spread of the virus.

A few weeks ago, the Akosombo International School recorded a total number of 79 Covid-19 cases.

To this effect, the Volta River Authority (VRA) issued a statement urging calm among parents, students, and the general public concerning the infection of some of its students and staff with Covid-19.

It further assured that its Health Professionals are adequately equipped to handle the cases.

Similarly, a total of 3 Covid-19 positive cases were recorded at Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School in the Central region early last month.

Authorities assured the general public that reported cases will be managed well to prevent further spread.
