President Akufo-Addo has left Ghana for Liberia on Sunday to witness the inauguration of the President-elect George Weah and his Vice President-elect, Jewel Howard Taylor.

West Africa's newly elected President and his Veep will be sworn-in on Monday, in Monrovia at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sport Complex (SKD) in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

The President is accompanied by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway; the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah and other officials from the Presidency.

Given the absence from the jurisdiction of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speaker of Parliament, Aaron Mike Oquaye, in accordance with Article 60(11) of the Constitution, will act in his stead.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has duly been sworn-in after an emergency parliamentary sitting was convened on Sunday.
