After a friendly chat with NPP flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah says he fears President Mills could lose to Nana Akufo Addo in 2012.The Daily Guide newspaper on Wednesday featured the son of Ghana's first president in a hearty chat with Nana Addo, the NPP's presidential candidate for elections 2012, on its front page.Explaining to Joy News his encounter with Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, who was recently dismissed from the National Youth Council as acting Director after he criticised the Mills administration, said Nana Addo “is a charming and charismatic person.”He said even though he was not very close to the NPP flag-bearer, “I think he is a nice person… and I was happy to see the picture [in the newspapers]. It just shows that Ghana has a healthy democracy.”Dr Nkrumah said Nana Addo proved an unopposed candidate with his emphatic win at the NPP flag-bearer election a few weeks ago, and “from our side of the NDC, some of us are hoping that we will get a different candidate from Prof. Mills.”He reiterated his comments that president Mills will not be the best candidate for the ruling party in the 2012 elections.“I also have some reservation about the performance of NDC in government. I think we could have done a lot better. I also don’t think they should use intimidation to try to silence some of us. Recently I heard a Presidential Aide saying that I should go back to rehabilitation. I think these are more unfortunate statements and lies coming from people in government and close to Prof. Mills. It doesn’t speak well of the presidency,” he told Joy News’ Sammy Darko. But is the NPP making overtures to Dr Sekou Nkrumah, he was asked, to which he responded; “Oh no! I think they know my position”.Play the attached audio and listen to Dr Sekou Nkrumah speaking to Joy News.Source: Joy News/Ghana
