The paramount chief of the Akwamu State, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, has pledged his support to the transformation of the Akosombo Textiles Limited (ATL) which is located within his traditional area.
He made this commitment when the management of the company and leaders of the union groups led by the Chief Executive Officer, Kofi Boateng, made a call on him and his traditional council at Akwamufie on Wednesday, December 11.
The management of Akosombo Textiles called on the paramountcy of the Akwamu State to update the Paramount Chief on the progress made so far with the revamping efforts of the factory and its operations. Mr. Kofi Boateng, the Chief Executive Officer also introduced the management team to the Paramount Chief, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III and Queen Mother, Nana Afrakoma II.
The Chief in his remarks, noted the immense contribution that Akosombo Textiles has had on the catchment area and noted that the progress of such an investment was the concern of everyone including his paramountcy. He, therefore, assured the delegation of his support at all times and encouraged the team to work assiduously to ensure that the company regains its glory.
Nana Afrakoma II, who recently celebrated her 55th year as Queen Mother, recounted the memories of being part of several milestones related to Akosombo Textiles and intimated her full support for the team and its efforts. She encouraged the team to be aware of the impact of their work on the community as well as the nation.
On his part, Mr. Boateng confirmed the team’s commitment to partner with all stakeholders including the government and to work conscientiously towards the set goals.
Akosombo Textiles Limited (now Akosombo Industrial Company Limited - AICL) began the modern textile industry in Ghana.
The company has transitioned over the years, partnering with renowned international wax producers to expand and produce quality wax prints.
Their brands include – ABC English Wax, ATL Wax, ATL Fancy, Treasure and Da Viva.
