Director of Operations of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP John Kudalor, has assured Ghanaians that the police have total control over security in the ongoing election at Akwatia.
Speaking on Joy FM Tuesday morning, he said that the police are ready to provide the enabling environment to ensure that the election to elect a member of parliament is free and fair and devoid of intimidation.
DCOP Kudalo also said the police are well trained to make sure the ballot boxes are safe.
He however disagreed with suggestions that the police may have underestimated the security situation ahead of the poll and that may have given way for the initial incidents of violence at the weekend.
He said the police had “analyzed the situation from the happenings before Sunday” and though they have been blamed for over reacting and being over anxious, he believed the police did its best to bring the situation under control.
He said supporters of the NDC and NPP and indeed all voters have no cause to feel insecure.
