Osabarima Kofi Boateng III, chief of Akwatia, on Monday urged the security agencies to be firm in ensuring free, fair, transparent and violent-free re-run of parliamentary elections at six polling stations at Akwatia on August 18.
The chief expressed worry about the recent violence and acts of lawlessness at Akwatia.
Osabarima Boateng at a pres conference at Akwatia condemned the violence and described rumours that he took sides in the “sad happenings” as unfortunate and stressed that he would not support violence or any act of lawlessness in the town.
The chief expressed worry about the bad reputation of Akwatia in recent times and appealed to the people “not to further dent the town’s image.”
Osabarima Boateng said that last Thursday, he invited executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and those of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a meeting at his palace and cautioned that he would hold them personally responsible for any disturbances at Akwatia.
He appealed to the people to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections at the six polling stations.Source: GNA
