The cache of arms, ammunition and explosives discovered at Akweteman near Accra should not agitate anybody’s mind, the police have said. Acting Deputy Police PRO, ASP Nicholas Asiamah said the arms were only stripped parts which posed no security threat at all. According to him, the parts cannot be put together to produce even one useful weapon. Speaking to Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the Deputy Police PRO said the stripped, corroded, weapons were probably buried in the 1970s. He said the explosives were so damaged that they cannot be detonated. Contractors last week discovered the cache of arms buried in the area and called in the police. ASP Asiamah said officials of the Base Ammunition Expert of the military were helping with investigations into the matter. Story by Malik Abass Daabu/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
