The Presidential Candidate for the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, arrived in the Ahafo Region on November 10, 2024, to a warm and enthusiastic reception.

Starting his two-day campaign tour in Asunafo South, Mr Kyerematen reaffirmed his commitment to including chiefs in his government if elected as President.

Addressing traditional leaders and residents of Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency, he announced plans to amend the 1992 Constitution to empower chiefs, who he believes have been sidelined in national governance.

Mr Kyerematen argued that the Constitution currently restricts traditional leaders from fully participating in governance.

“The Constitution, as it stands, keeps our revered chiefs on the sidelines when they should be partners in governance. When Alan comes, we will change that aspect of the Constitution,” he vowed.

He explained that his Great Transformational Plan (GTP) included creating a Second Chamber, where chiefs would act as co-trustees of Ghana’s lands and natural resources, bringing their knowledge and influence into national leadership.

Nana Tabiri Gyansa, the Kotirehene of the Sankore Traditional Council, welcomed Mr Kyerematen’s commitment to elevate the role of chiefs, expressing hope that this would address Sankore's lack of development.

“Sankore and its surrounding communities have been neglected for far too long in terms of development and employment opportunities,” he noted.

Nana Tabiri Gyansa added that the people were eager to see the new direction and transformation that Alan and his Movement for Change represent.

The tour follows a highly successful Caravan Campaign in the Northern Region, where Alan’s message of national unity and transformation gained significant support.

Energised by the “Ase3 Ho” slogan, the caravan has brought excitement and optimism to each community it has visited.

In Ahafo, Mr. Kyerematen’s message received a similarly enthusiastic response. “I have gone places and seen how people love our Movement, but what I am seeing here today is amazing,” he remarked, visibly moved by the overwhelming reception from the people of Sankore.

Joined by senior members of the Afrafranto Alliance, including Yaw Buaben-Asamoa, Mr Kyerematen’s campaign team has generated a strong wave of support across the Ahafo Region.

Alliance partners shared in the excitement, with Mr Buaben-Asamoa underscoring the role of Alan’s Great Transformational Plan in addressing Ghana’s critical issues, including youth unemployment, galamsey, and the need for constitutional reforms.

Alan emphasised that only a government of national unity can bring real change to Ghana, noting that his administration would end the partisan deadlock stalling progress.

“We need a government that unites, not divides. The Afrafranto Movement is about bringing everyone to the table, and that includes our chiefs,” he said, highlighting his vision for inclusive governance that draws on the authority and wisdom of traditional leaders.

As the caravan wound its way through Ahafo, local communities buzzed with excitement. Supporters cheered as Mr Kyerematen outlined plans to foster job creation, especially for the youth, and to support economic growth in rural areas through improved infrastructure and local investment.

His focus on creating opportunities for all Ghanaians struck a deep chord, echoing the Afrafranto Alliance’s slogan, “Obiaa bedidi wo ase3 ho,” which envisions a future where all Ghanaians benefit.

The caravan tour will continue in the Ahafo Region, with Alan expected to address more communities and further solidify the Afrafranto Alliance’s presence.

The overwhelmingly positive response from Ahafo has further energised the campaign team, who see this as a testament to the people's desire for meaningful change under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership.
