A group of Muslim youth in the Hohoe District have proposed Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alhaji Rashid Bawa as being the right person to partner Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the 2008 elections.
The the group that calls itself the Coalition of Muslim Youths in the Hohoe District said Alhaji Bawa cut across regional frontiers and has " up to his sleeves the necessary qualities" of a running mate capable of helping the NPP win the elections.
Alhaji Saeed Anass Dawuda, Volta Regional Coordinator of the Coalition, made the call on behalf of the group at a sensitization workshop in Hohoe
at the weekend.
He said Alhaji Bawa was proactive, down to earth and a hard working gentleman.
Alhaji Dawuda said though Alhaji Bawa was born by a Gonja Muslim Cleric and brought up at Kadjebi in the Volta Region, he is popular in the Upper West, Upper East and Northern regions and known nationwide extensively as a Minister of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
The Regional Coordinator of the Coalition, said Alhaji Bawa was a "symbol of strength, determination and inspiration for we the Muslim youth" and the entire country and the best man to pair with Nana Akufo-Addo.
He said pairing Ahaji Bawa with Nana Akufo-Addo, would be the best fortune for the NPP.
