Mr Bede A Ziedeng, General Secretary of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said all is set for the party’s foremost National Delegates Congress scheduled for April 5 to elect a flag bearer and 21 national executive members.He said about 1,400 delegates; five each from the 230 constituencies comprising the Chairman, Secretary, Organizer, Youth Organizer and Women Organizer were entitled to attend and vote on Monday.Others were all members of the National Executive Committee, all founding members, all functional regional executive committee members, one representative from each organization which is a member of the party and two representatives of each external branch. The DFP Congress tabled to consider the report of the General Secretary, approve the report and policy recommendations proposed by the National Executive Committee (NEC), approved the budget for the running of the party until the next Congress as presented by NEC.In an interview with the GNA, Mr Ziedeng, without mentioning names, said two notable personalities had picked nomination forms to contest for the position of flag bear whiles many have picked for the national executive positions.National executive positions being contested for were; National Chairman, three National Vice Chairmen, General Secretary, and two deputies, National Treasurer and a Deputy, National Organizer and two deputies, and National Public Education Officer and two deputies.The rest were, National Youth Organizer and two deputies, and National Women Organizer and two deputies.Mr Ziedeng said the efforts made by the National executives to ensure a fair and transparent process to provide a level playing field for all aspirants had paid off with all aspirants expressing satisfaction with the process."So far, we have not failed either ourselves or our Ghanaian compatriots in the preparations for the congress; no aspirant has had occasion to complain about a single move that we have made," he said.In line with these developments, Mr Ziedeng said the party was confident that there would be no rift before, during and after the elections."Our confidence is based on the fact that we believe in the intelligence of our candidates and trust in their integrity and we know ourselves that we can conduct such a complex exercise without giving anybody reason to complain."Mr Ziedeng said all the logistics required for a successful congress were in place and transportation had been made available for all delegates to arrive in Accra on time and in comfort.Source: GNA
