The steering team of the Ghana Gold Expo has issued a press briefing that the premiere issue of the Ghana Gold Report 2020 will be released on June 15, 2020.
The steering team is led by Dr Steven Blessing Ackah and MP for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah.

The Gold Report focuses on key findings from the Ghana Gold Expo 2020. The Ghana Gold Expo 2020, which was organised by the Western Regional Coordinating Council, together with ViewTag Ghana partners of Aurum Monaco, with technical support from the United Nation Environment Programme - Chemical Branch, drew major stakeholders in the gold sector around the world to the Western Region of Ghana from March 8 to 10, 2020.
The Ghana Gold Report 2020 would include insights and recommendations from diverse stakeholders, both local and international.
The report analyses strategic steps and measures to be put in place to eradicate the use of mercury among Artisanal Small Scale Gold Miners, due diligence procedures, monitoring and transparency in ASGM activities.
The report, just as the expo, delved into topics on land destruction & reclamation, water body destruction & treatment, and gold tailing and reclamation.
Emphasising on a structural approach to promoting responsible mining and supply chain in Ghana, the report amplifies the findings and presentations at the expo on gold mining and its consequences on the environment, health and communities water destructions. As well as standardization and policy formulation in the sector.
The report also features the take of the President of the Republic of Ghana on “Promoting Responsible Mining” in the country and across the globe and other speakers at the event.
According to Mr Ackah, the Convener of the gold expo “The report brings to bear the key strategic steps and measures identified during the Gold Expo to ensure that responsible gold mining practices are promoted among sector players.” In addition, he stated that an official presentation of the report will be presented to the President of the Republic of Ghana, The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Board chair and CEO of Minerals Commission, The Ghana Chamber of Mines, the 57 Diplomatic Missions Abroad, Gold Fields Ghana, Governor of Bank of Ghana, Ghana Standard Authority, Association of Small Scale Miners, Gold Coast Chairman, PMMC and many other key stakeholders in the mining sector."
The expo focused mainly on ‘Promoting Zero Mercury’ through responsible gold supply in both large and small scale mining.
The Expo was used to advance the advocacy against the use of mercury in mining following the Minamata Convention that Ghana signed in 2017, the need to eradicate child labour in all mining activities, the need to ensure that large scale mining companies are adhering to best practices in conserving the environment and the growing importance of gold reserve by Bank of Ghana.
On importance, the report will highlight the Gold Gift Day where the President of the Republic of Ghana was awarded the first commemorative gold medal made of 999.6 Au Hallmark made by Gold Coast Refinery.
