The IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has busted a human trafficking syndicate at Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region.
The 22 suspects are said to be involved in cybercrime activities.
A Police brief said on February 12, 2026, the IGPs Team with support from Combat Teams and the Surveillance Unit of the Ghana Police Service arrested the suspects following intelligence led operation on human trafficking and organised cybercrime activities.
It said the 22 suspects were found at a primary location in Pokuase-Afiaman where officers uncovered a large-scale cyber fraud hub commonly referred to as a “Yahoo Boy” base.
The Police brief said the suspects were found actively operating computer systems believed to be facilitating international internet fraud.
Preliminary investigations revealed a structured hierarchy within the syndicate, including individuals responsible for enforcing control and discipline over those trafficked.
It said the Ghana Police Service believed the syndicate forms part of a sophisticated trans-national criminal network involved in human trafficking and cyber fraud, with indications that some of the younger suspects may themselves be victims of coercion and forced labour.
“The Ghana Police Service reiterates its firm commitment to combating organised crime, protecting vulnerable persons, and ensuring that all individuals involved in human trafficking and cyber-related offences are brought to justice,” it added.
