The Mayor of the city of Almere in the Netherlands, Mrs Anne Marie Jaristma will lead a 24-member delegation to visit Kumasi from June 17 to 23.
The visit, which is in connection with the sister city relationship between Almere and Kumasi will enable the delegates acquaint themselves with the progress of some of the development projects and programmes initiated under the relationship.
A release signed by Mrs Jemima Nancy Asare, Public Relations Officer of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and issued in Kumasi on Tuesday, said the delegation would visit the Asaase Aban Women's projects at Moshie Zongo, The Parkoso School, some industries and workshops in the Kumasi metropolis.
The statement said the delegation would also pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace and the Regional Minister Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu Ansah.
According to the release the KMA had benefited in a number of ways from the sister city relationship with the Almere City. Among the projects initiated under the programme are the Atonsu School Project, the Asaase Aban Women's Project for beads making and the supply of computers and waste bins to the Assembly.
Others are exchange programmes between school children in Kumasi and Almere City, training of potential assembly members in the Netherlands and the training of revenue staff of the KMA.
The release said Almere had almost completed the update of the network infrastructure at the KMA and the Metro Office of the Town and Country Planning in Kumasi.
