Laughter, cheers, and the spirit of camaraderie filled the air at the Osu Salem enclave on Saturday, December 29, as former students of five prominent Osu-based schools gathered for an end-of-year get-together and fun games.
Organised by the Osu Salem Old Boys’ Association (OSOBA) Class of 2002 – alumni of the historic Osu Salem Boys’ Boarding – with participation by Osu Presbyterian Preparatory School (OPPS), Presby 2 Junior High School, Royal Preparatory School, and Presby Girls' School, the event transformed the school grounds into a buzzing hub of networking and nostalgia.
The alliance between these institutions highlights a trend where alumni associations leverage their networks not only to support their alma mater but also to strengthen the wider educational ecosystem of their communities.
The 2025 Get-Together moved beyond the traditional party atmosphere of typical reunions.
As participants shared meals, the informal setting provided a fertile ground for alumni philanthropy, with discussions on the sidelines focused on regular engagements towards mutually beneficial activities.
Michael Mensah, Acting President of OSOBA ‘02, emphasized that the ultimate objective is to unite all Osu-based alumni groups under one umbrella for high-impact initiatives.
“This isn’t just a party; it’s a ‘plug-in’ for development. When we play and interact together, it is an avenue for opportunities for everyone. As we support each other, it becomes a precursor to help our schools and ultimately work together for the future of Osu,” he noted.
For many, the highlights were the quiet moments on the sidelines under the atmosphere which served as a powerful reminder of shared beginnings.
Dean Adjetey Sowah, President of the OPPS 2002 Group, captured the emotional weight of the gathering:
“It was beautiful to meet your past self in the eyes of old friends. They remember the version of you that was still under construction—a powerful reminder of how far you’ve come. It was a very nice moment, and I hope this propels us to embark on doing it more often.”
The event served as a real-world LinkedIn for some participants.
In one corner, Ruth Hammond, representing the Presby Girls' School, shared how a casual conversation led to discussions about poultry production.
“I gained insights into poultry production after interactions with another participant involved in the same venture,” she shared, urging the organizers to sustain the platform to keep such"passion-driven networks active.
With the maiden edition hailed as a success, leaders of the various alumni branches are already looking toward the future.
Francis Amihere, President of the Royal Preparatory 2002 Association, envisions a much larger footprint for the next edition.
“We can put things together so that by next year, it will be bigger and better for increased participation to have a wider reach to work together to promote our common goal,” He suggested.
The sentiment was echoed by King Owusu Ansah, a participant from Presby 2, who called on the current leadership to keep the unity torch burning for regular meetups and joint developmental programmes.
