The Accra Metropolitan Assembly is appealing to the Chief of James Town to exercise restraint as it works to relocate squatters at Sodom and Gomorrah.
Nii Kojo Ababio has hinted he would mobilize his people to take action against the squatters after they defied a two-week ultimatum to move.
The chief is on a mission to remove the squatters whom he accuses of polluting the Korle Lagoon.
But the AMA wants him to give the assembly some time to work out a relocation plan for the squatters.
The Third Speaker for the AMA, Mr. Nuumo Blafo said the assembly appreciated the chief’s concerns but maintained the issue needed to be carefully thought through.
He said a piece of land earmarked for the resettlement of the squatters needed to be developed before the people are moved.
