There was a near drama at Adom FM studios on Monday when a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Sarpong interrupted the submission of the Corporate Affairs Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Eric Ametor-Quarmyne, and called him a "liar" because the latter had claimed the NHIS does not owe any service provider.
Ametor-Quarmyne was reacting to a publication by the New Crusading Guide newspaper that Legon Hospital had suspended NHIS services to card bearing members of NHIS due to the NHIA’s inability to settle debts owed to them.
Ametor-Quarmyne stated there were lapses in the service delivery at the Legon Hospital with regard to NHIS and it was therefore asked to stop providing services to NHIS subscriber.
However, he said the hospital was made to resume accepting NHIS card bearers, adding that the scheme does not owe any service provider.
This angered the NPP member on the panel, Kwabena Sarpong who called Ametor Kwame a liar for saying the NHIS does not owe any service provider.
This did not go down well with Alhaji Halidu Haruna who is a presidential aide at the Castle, who accused the NPP for piling up bills during their tenure of office.
"If the NDC were vicious like the NPP, this man sitting here would not have the courage to say he does business with government institutions, and this shows the better Ghana agenda is on course’, Alhaji Halidu Haruna stressed.
To which Kwabena Sarpong retorted:"don’t give me that bullshit; no one can stop me from doing business with government."
Alhaji Halidu Haruna, nevertheless, maintained that the NDC government is not vicious like the NPP and have the interest of Ghanaians at heart.
Alhaji Halidu Haruna cited the Chief Executive Officer for Masai, Eddie Annan as one of the victims whose business was collapsed by the NPP government.
