The Vice President, Mr K. B. Amissah-Arthur, on Tuesday afternoon visited the final year student of the University of Ghana Medical School, who is on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, after jumping from the second floor of her hostel to escape an attempted rape.
The student, who is currently recuperating from injuries, narrated the ordeal she went through before she jumped from the balcony of her second floor hostel to flee from the alleged rapist.
Mr Amissah-Arthur, who was impressed by the courage of the young woman, presented her with an undisclosed sum of money to support her medical bills as well as a signed “Get Well Soon” card.
Criminal charges have already been brought against the suspect.
The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister of Education Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Deputy Minister for Transport Joyce Bawa Mogtari.
