Black Satellites midfielder Michael Anaba is yearning for more minutes on the pitch in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup after scoring the vital equalizer against Portugal in the Round of 16 clash at Kayseri’s Kadir Has Stadium last Wednesday just minutes after his introduction in the game.
The Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder over the last two seasons has struggled to command a starting spot in the side with competition for places very much on the high side.
A consistent performance under previous manager Maxwell Konadu, the enforcer has been forced to watch majority of the sides games from the bench but seized his moment with that much needed equalizer against the highly rated Portuguese.
The young midfielder is looking forward to enjoying a lot more minutes on the pitch but is leaving the decision to the gaffer Sellas Tetteh.
“That goal against Portugal could not have come at a better time. It has really boosted my morale and confidence and I just hope the coach would give me more playing time to also support the team,” he told Joy sports
“The decision lies with him though as there is a lot of competition for places in the team. Hopefully I will get some minutes in the game against Chile on Sunday.”
The Black Satellites defeated the Seleccao by 3-2 in a thrilling Round of 16 clash in Kayseri’s Kadir Has Stadium thus booking a quarter final against Chile at the Turk Telekom Arena on Sunday. Kickoff is at 18:00 GMT.
