Some 15 staff of police, prisons and Attorney-General’s Department have been implicated in the recent judicial scandal, a statement from the Judicial Council says.

The statement signed by the Judicial Secretary Justice Poku-Acheampong says these employees were captured in the damming video compiled by investigative journalist Anas Aremyaw Anas.

The video, initially, was thought to have captured judges and court clerks allegedly collecting bribes to hand favourable judgments to the payees but after further scrutiny of the damming evidence of bribery, it was found that some of the 'culprits' were not employees of the Judicial Service as suspected by Anas’s Tiger Eye Investigations.

The Judicial Council says the names and photographs of the persons involved are to be forwarded to the relevant institutions for appropriate action.

The Executive Secretary of the Ghana Anti-corruption Coalition, Linda Ofori-Kwafo wants the leadership of police, prisons and Attorney-General’s Department to “show institutional commitment” in the fight against corruption.

According to her, the judicial scandal has got the whole world watching how the country’s leaders deal with the embarrassment.

The scandal is an opportunity for the top hierarchy in the named public institution to transparently rid their institutions of corruption believed to be endemic, she explained.

“We are tired of the kind and nature of corruption in this country…we are all watching them” Linda Ofori-Kwafo told Joy News Friday.
