Andani Royal Family in Dagbon has called on President John Evans Atta Mills to ignore recent calls by the Abudu Royals to dismiss or reassign Mr. S.S Nayina as Northern Regional Minister.
Andani Mahama, a youth of the Andani gate at a news conference in Tamale on Thursday and dubbed, “Setting the records straight,” described the Abudus' call not only as an empty threat but baseless and without any merit.
The press conference was in reaction to calls by the Abudu Royal Family on the president to dismiss Mr. Nayina because he had compromised his position.
The Northern Regional Security Council had provided security for an elder of the Andani gate to renovate a sacred room in the Gbewaa Palace.
But the Abudus contended that the minister who chairs the REGSEC had abused his powers by violating the road map to peace which prohibited any of the gates from accessing the palace.
In an eight page press release, Andani Mahama among other concerns described all the claims made by the Abudus as not only mischievous but a gimmick intended to divert public attention from the horrendous crime which has brought Dagbon to its present state.
The statement explained that some customary elders approached the Kampakuya Naa, Regent of the entire Dagbon State, who currently acts as the Yaa-Naa to facilitate the rehabilitation of the 'Katini-Duu'.
“In consultation with the Northern Regional Security Council and the relevant bodies, the renovation exercise was carried out last Sunday with permission from RECSEC,” the statement maintained.
The Andanis questioned the Abudus why they flouted the Otumfuo Mediation committee’s road map to peace document by forcibly taken custody of the old Gbewaa palace.
It said the Regent of Dagbon, Abdulai Andani who is the acting Yaa-Naa of Dagbon acted responsibly by requesting that RECSEC under the Chairmanship of the Regional Minister needed to provide him with security to carry out the renovation exercise.
