Some irate youth of Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region have set a house ablaze following the murder of a taxi driver in the area.
They believe the caretaker of the house has something to do with the death of the driver whose name has be given as Abontia.
Speaking to Joy News Eastern Regional correspondent, Kofi Siaw, an eyewitness narrated that Abontia, 30, who drives a KIA Picanto taxi took some men to Oda on Wednesday evening.
Halfway through the journey, Abontia was kidnapped by the men and butchered to death and left his body in front of the burnt house.
A locally manufactured single-barreled gun was found by Abontia's side when the body was discovered.
The eyewitness says a report by someone who chanced on the dead body drew their attention at about 1:00 a.m Thursday morning to rush to the scene.
They suspected the caretaker of the house, who bolted when he saw the crowd, might have killed Abontia.
As a result, the angry youth set house fire ablaze.
It took a joint Police reinforcement team and military officers from the Achiase Jungle Warfare to calm the crowd.
The owner of the house is said to belong to a man who has travelled abroad.
Oda District Police Commander, DSP Samuel Ntoso, told Joy News the police moved in to search the house when they got to the scene.
He said investigations into the matter is ongoing.
