As part of its ongoing efforts to improve healthcare in the community, the Anyako Youth Association has donated a range of essential medical equipment to the Anyako Health Centre, marking Phase II of its commitment to strengthening local health delivery.

The items - presented during the 2025 Anyako Youth Summit - include a refrigerator, washing machine, infrared thermometer gun, blood pressure apparatus, glucometers with strips, and a carton of surgical gloves. These, according to Association President, Sergeant Unity Fiagbedzi, will help meet the facility’s immediate needs and improve service delivery.

He expressed deep appreciation to all donors and singled out contributors such as Mr. Samuel Nyadroh and Children, Madam Ruby Dzade, Madam Catherine Dzakpasu, Mr. Prudence Amegah, and Mr. Mawuli Dogbatse for their support.

However, he emphasized that the journey is not over. AYA has launched a self-help initiative to raise funds for a Hematology Analyzer (Full Blood Count Machine) - a crucial piece of equipment still needed.

Beyond healthcare, the Association is also focusing on other development areas including education, water, sanitation, and security. Educational interventions rolled out include the Anyako Basic Schools Quiz Competition, BECE Best Student Awards (Male & Female), Best Performing Students Awards from Basic 1 to JHS 3, and plans to launch a Best Teacher Award.

"We cannot do it alone. Our vision is collective," said the AYA President. “We invite all hands on deck to build a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Anyako."

The items were formally handed over to the Health Centre by Togbi Aposa VI, Fia of Anyako-Lashibi, who commended the youth for their leadership in community development.

"The youth are the lifeline of every community," Togbi Aposa VI noted. "Let’s rise beyond individual interests and unite for the development of Anyako."

He was joined by National Secretary of the National Organisation of Anyako Konu Union (NOAKU), Mr. Bone Dzakpasu, who pledged the Union’s continued support and emphasized the need for unity.

Receiving the items, Physician Assistant in charge of the health centre, Madam Caroline Tomefa, expressed heartfelt thanks and made a passionate appeal for further assistance. She noted the urgent need for:

• A 20-bed admission ward for male, female, and pediatric patients
• A Hematology Analyzer to boost diagnostic capabilities
• Renovation of staff accommodation, including her bungalow and the nurses' quarters, which she described as unsafe and demoralising.

"We often have to refer patients to Sacred Heart Hospital at Weme due to limited space," she said. "We need help to serve our people better."
