Appolonia – City of Light, the mixed-use urban development near Accra, has broken ground on its newest residential development, The Oxford.
An event at the project site was attended by Stephen Jennings, founder and CEO of Rendeavour, Africa’s largest urban land developer and lead partner in Appolonia, and the Chief and Elders of the Appolonia Community.
Jennings reaffirmed Rendeavour’s commitment to providing developments that will relieve the congestion of major cities in Africa: “In Accra, we are well on the way to fulfilling this promise. The work undertaken by the local team over the last year is testament to this commitment and helps ensure that our developments transform the urban landscape and assist in improving the local economy.”
Earlier this month, Appolonia announced its joint venture partnership to build 424 two and three bedroom homes with its new partners, Francis Biney and Kwabena Peprah. The development on 20 hectares of the 941 hectare Appolonia site is being constructed by Eban Properties and will have prices ranging from $75,000 to over $100,000. The show houses are to be completed by January 2016.
Appolonia CEO Anthony Okyere thanked the local community and applauded their determination and foresight in allowing the project to move at such speed over the last year.
“The Oxford is our second residential development to break ground this year. Without the support of all our partners, this would not be possible. We are now looking forward to our first residents moving to site in 2016.”
