Burkinabe Aristide Bance has announced his retirement from international football on Tuesday, ending a 12-year career with the national team.
The 35-year-old striker scored 24 goals in 79 appearances for Burkina Faso and represented them at four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
He was a member of the team that reached the final in 2013. The Stallions beat Black Stars in the semi-finals with Bance putting a man of the match performance. He scored as the game finished 1-1 in regulation and scored the winning goal in the penalty shootout.
In a post on his official Facebook account, Bance revealed that, during a meeting with the country's president, Roch Marc Christian Kabore, he announced that he was stepping away from the national team.
"I also took advantage of these moments to officially announce to him my intention to end my international career, the end of my adventure with the Stallions of Burkina Faso and finally give him my lucky number 15," Bance wrote.
Bance has enjoyed a storied career at club level too, where he has turned out for no fewer than 22 teams across 12 countries.
