Reports reaching myjoyonline say armed robbers have attacked a Western Union outlet of the Ecobank at Madina. The robbers are said to have attacked a bullion van that was carrying money on the premises of the bank and have driven the van away.
The police guard on duty was said to have been shot during the robbery.
An eye witness told Joy News that there was an exchange of fire between the robbers and the police guard. The Police guard is said to have sustained injuries and he has been taken away for medical attention.
According to the eye witness, calm has returned to the bank and normal business has resumed.
Meanwhile, the police are reported to have arrested the robbers.
