Jones Applerh, Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, has called for the arrest of politicians and other individuals who discharge firearms at political rallies, adding that the guns they shoot, registered or not, should be seized. He said that the approximately 500,000 guns registered in Ghana do not worry him, but the fact that people are buying them to solve chieftaincy disputes, protect themselves from burglars, and remedy the lack of border security is a cause for concern.Gun abuse is on the rise, he said, and during the elections, he fears that many people will feel even more inclined to use them. The Commission is currently conducting an arms sensitization tour intended to educate the citizenry about the importance of reporting the owners of unregistered guns to the authorities.Play the attached audio to listen to LUV FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor's report
