The 15 students of Ghana Senior High School in Tamale, who were arrested Sunday night over rioting have been granted bail. They are expected to report to the police on June 14, 2010. The police say they will determine whether to put the students before court when they finish with their investigations. Students of GHANASCO Sunday night vandalized properties belonging to some of their teachers in protest against the authorities’ decision to ban the use of mobile phones on campus. The students said the decision was arbitrary and unjustified, and in addition, were being charged unapproved fees. But their violent protests attracted the intervention of the police who arrested the 15 students and detained them. About 10 students who inhaled teargas fired by the police to stop the riots were admitted at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
