Former Minister for Information under the Kufuor administration Stephen Asamoah Boateng is in court challenging the results of the just ended elections in the Mfantseman constituency, where he stood on the NPP’s ticket.
His colleague Lawrence Agyinsam who also stood on the party’s ticket for the Heman-Lower Denkyira constituency has also taken a similar action.
The two, who were at the Cape Coast High court early Friday morning to move the motion before the judge, insist the election results declared for their respective constituencies are fraudulent.
Joy News Central Region correspondent said the two petitioners are in court on an ex-parte motion praying the court for an order for the determination of a security cost and also for the two respondents to be duly served.
Asamoah Boateng lost by 1,441 to Aquinas Asiedu Quansah whilst Lawrence Agyinsim lost by 31 votes to Forster Joseph Andoh.
The court awarded a security cost of 800 cedis be paid by the petitioners and also ordered that the first respondents to be served through the Speaker of Parliament.
