Captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has made a surprise appearance before the Presidential Commission investigating the botched 2014 World Cup performance in Brazil.

Members of the Commission were initially angry at the players for "disrespecting" the Commission by failing to appear.

The players were advertised to appear before the Commission to tell their side of the story that made Ghana a laughing stock at the World Cup in Brazil.

As at 2:00 PM none of the players had turned up at the hearing, a situation that angered the panel members.

Moses Foh Amoaning, a member of the Commission, said: "The conduct of the players is an utmost disrespect to Ghanaians and they owe all of us a huge apology.

"Otherwise these Black Stars will go down as the most disgraceful Black Stars in history."

The Commission members were even angered by a letter written by lawyers of the FA which said the FA chairman informed the players about the Commission's invitation but cannot physically bring them to the Commission.

The chairman of the Commission, Senyo Dzamefe who had a fierce exchange with the lawyer for the FA, said it would amount to utter disrespect if the players failed to turn up.

In a desperate plea on behalf of the players the president of the FA, Kwasi Nyantakyi  said some of the players were to leave Thursday morning and could not appear but added he is still doing everything in his capacity to see to it that at least one of the players makes an appearance.

He stated that Gyan has a game to play tomorrow and is scheduled to leave today but he is still trying to get him to appear even for a brief moment.

In disappointment, the Commission adjourned sitting for the day after hearing the testimony of Saban Quaye, a member of the Black Stars technical committee.

A few minutes after adjournment, the Stars captain Asamoah Gyan appeared before the commission with an apology not only for the embarrassment in Brazil but for his late appearance before the Commission.

He said the team arrived from Tamale this morning and his flight to his club side was scheduled to leave at 5:00 pm later today. He therefore had to go home and freshen up before he leaves.

He said he was on his way to the commission when he heard that the Stars had disrespected the Commission by failing to show up.

"We cannot disrespect the Commission", he said, "once again I would like to take the opportunity to apologise to all Ghanaians."

"We let everybody down; we let the country and the whole of Africa down and I hope it won't happen again," he stated.
